My name is Zvezda
Pavonic-Dimitrijevic, born 1974 in Serbia where I grew up. 1991 I came
to Vienna.
No, I did not attend any art school.
Raised in a mining area, I learned the trade of goldsmith, a trade
typical for this area. I have never thought that I would ever be so
occupied with painting. Live is just unpredictable and often goes in a
different direction than we have planned. Rarely it gets as we wish and
imagine. Some years ago I was torn from my active life by illness. I was
very disappointed then, angry and desperate and did not know how to go
on. And then by mere chance I started drawing and painting. That did e
great deal of good to me and I started to enjoy life again.
It was like a kind of therapy and balm
for my soul. I went on developing autodidactically and can't imagine my
daily life without art any more. It's just good for the soul to create
something, something perfect, clear for me and of my own and above all
to see that others enjoy it too.
I'm a perfectionist and attach great
importance to order and accuracy. That might be the reason for my
special liking of portraits, vivid colours and shapes.
I'm fascinated by persons, facial
expressions and the human body in general. I love painting faces and
persons, to capture the expression, the glance of people and fix it on a
paper or canvas. I also try to bring the human body by means of colours
and shapes onto the canvas. Cubism is a chapter of modern art which
fascinates and interests me equally, as well as abstract art.
Art for me is something beautiful, a
different world, a place of retreat where I find peace, comfort and
satisfaction after a stressful day or whenever I don't feel good, even
if it's only for a short time.
