Freedom - the timeless Beauty

My name is Vasja Grabner and I was born in Slovenia in year 1976. When I paint I don’t see and don’t want to do any difference between penis and foot. Between masturbating or eating pasta. Between glass of water or a huge dildo. Every object can turn to a Still Life and everything can be a part of masterpiece. It’s all a part of human nature, body, behavior or space that surrounds him. I believe everything can be object of esthetic.

I try to find delusions and lies about forbidden fields in our lives. I try to see inside taboos, society, organizations, religion, sexuality and ideologies. For me, my art is about the truth and trough the truth I am searching the beauty. If I paint a nude human in an empty shapeless space, he is timeless. By adding the objects he is already defined with occupation, time and space. Together with ideology, these things building lies and they separate us from the truth and intentions in a real world.

I use painting to know myself better and to see which part of my nature is reality and which illusion is. By that I cannot do any compromises. I paint what I feel. If this is a peaceful atmosphere I have to feel calmness. If I paint erotic act I have to feel erotic excitement between my model and myself. If I don’t manage this, then I cannot be honest. In art I do anything to feel freedom of the timeless man.
