ROMEO IONESCU
Since his
apparition ,“ The Human “ was worried and braked because of questions of
existence and because of his
mission on Earth …..“ Where he comes from ? “..… “Who is he ? “
...…”Where he goes ? “ ……” Why he was born and why he dies ? ”……’’ Why
doesn’t he stay forever young ? “
Questions about
life and death , love and incident , all searched for the answer more or
less explicit and proper, based on condition , time ,age and epoch …..
And when the answer didn’t come , letting
itself waited so long then
”THE SIGN “ was
born …...For “ someone “ , a passerby in his way , to search and find the
answer ..…
Then “ the sign “
became “ A SYMBOL“ ……and so we can say that “ART” was born…...From that
it was started by a long series of searches and kneadings ,testings and
expression transformations,
reaching in the end an endless variety of style, conception and
expression, onset and interpretation.
Those beginnings
were searched by all great artists , as “ a living essence “ for a
message to eternity…..
Those messages
and those beginnings, here and to the life, I'm looking for them .....in
a braked foraging ,pure and sincere of "image" . All these
images garment the quotidian
, age and time, but they are the same for thousands of years ... We are
others, we are changed and over us the future generations will try to
interpret “the messages “ and the forms of expression.
For me, and for
my art , love,
luck and joy, warmth and light, is a creed no matter of the situation
and I will never stop “harnessing” them .
If it would be
necessary to speak about me from an artistic point of view
I would say :
“ Preoccupied by
the problems of genesis and of the man’s purpose in the world , by the
abyss but also by the ontological zenith ,the artist ( Romeo Ionescu
)doesn’t evade the capital interrogations .He has a personal point of
view on the world beginnings and doesn’t hesitate
to visualize the primordial horizon where ,
in Plato’s version ,the
androgynous myth was confined. From this to the Cucuteni plastic art
with its anthropomorphous statuettes and the idols of a rudimentary cult
, the way was direct and profitable .The Cucuteni quotation is
integrated on its decorative side and used in the sense of valorizing
the great refinement drawing .The totem ,the image of labyrinth and of
meander give coherence to a direction that is intelligent through option
and remarkable through performance. The old graphies have the chance of
becoming cultural archetypes.”
