Painting is difficult but
it is even more
complicated to describe what painting is.
The inspirations usually come up from my empty mind,
when no ideas are built up. Just pick up the brush and all the drawing
lines will be gradually made, as well as the images and arrangement. It
seems like there’s an
undefined
ecouragement inside that pushes me to paint without thinking. A psychic
after viewing my paintings said that I paint in unconscious. The
unconscious is my guide, it controls me, kind of. I’m not so sure.
Why is painting difficult ? Because painting is to create something new.
But can we really create new things while everything has already been
shaped ? And in every corners of art, there are always giant shadows
blocking the way of “creativity”. So why don’t we
just paint whatever we like, then things will be shaped
themselves ?
In my opinion, painting is just a kind of combinations between real and
unreal things (because the unreal things are so far to achieve and the
real things are just too familiar), between fullness and emptiness,
logicality and illogicality, heaven and hell, instinct and mind. And so
on. Oh I’ve just mentioned the mind, does it play any roles in creating
my new paintings ? Yes, but it floats in the middle of the process. The
beginning and the finale of a painting are officially formed by the
unconscious.
These are, of course, only my own thoughts!
