GUI DEMETER
Demeter Gui was born in Carei (Nagykároly) in the region of Transylvania
in Romania in 1949.
He studied arts, drawing and sculpting in his hometown Carei (Nagykároly)
and in Cluj (Kolozsvár) at the local high school training artists. After
leaving school, he had been dealing with sculpting for long decades,
mainly focusing in religious arts. His marble altars and baptizing
basins can be seen in Catholic churches throughout Transylvania (he
planned and sculpted these artistic objects himself).
He settled in Hungary in 2002, where he returned to his original
profession, painting.
One of my reviewers has described my art int he following: „Demeter Gui
is an impressionist painter, dealing with human and natural beauty and
colours; he tries to give his soul to his paintings. He decided not to
apply a realist and concrete method, instead he prefers to lead the
audience to the deep beauties of nature and human soul by the power and
harmonies of colours. His paintings are like poems; each painting is a
little verse. One can find the beauty of art creation in his works which
comes from his inner self. He has devotion, he has things to say. It is
a pleasure to listen to his messages and to understand the meaning of
life. The secret of life and death.”
